Everything You Need to Know for Your Romantic St. Lucia Honeymoon

Save this post for later!

Are you planning a romantic St. Lucia honeymoon, but do you need help with planning? Don’t worry — I’ve got you covered!

St. Lucia is frequently voted as one of the best honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean – and for good reason. With its sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and all-inclusive resorts, St. Lucia boasts everything you’ve dreamed of for your warm island honeymoon.

You and your newlywed partner can get a relaxing couple’s massage, soak up the sun on some of the world’s best beaches, hike to secluded waterfalls, and simply spend quality time together on this beautiful island.

So if you’re looking for everything you need to know for your romantic St. Lucia honeymoon, this guide has you covered!

Why to Honeymoon in St. Lucia

There are a few different reasons that St. Lucia is a fantastic honeymoon spot.

First, there’s the weather. With yearlong sunshine, it’s exactly what many couples picture for their beachy honeymoon. The average temperature is a nice 79 degrees Fahrenheit.

Your St. Lucia honeymoon will be fun and relaxing!

Not only that, but St. Lucia isn’t too far from the U.S. From Miami. It’s just a four-hour flight! It’s much closer than other popular island honeymoon destinations, like Hawaii, Tahiti, the Maldives, or Seychelles.

Last but not least, St. Lucia is packed with things to do. While you and your partner can certainly choose to curl up and spend quality time together for the entirety of your honeymoon, you’ll also have the option to explore everything St. Lucia has to offer.

You can hike to waterfalls, suntan on beaches, and snorkel in the bright blue ocean.

When to Honeymoon in St. Lucia

If you have a little flexibility with your timeline for your St. Lucia honeymoon, there are certainly more ideal times to visit. While the island is sunny and warm practically all year, it is important to make note of hurricane season, which runs from June to November.

Since St. Lucia is on the edge of the Caribbean’s hurricane belt, it’s rare for the island to be hit. But even if a hurricane doesn’t hit St. Lucia and instead makes its way to elsewhere in the Caribbean, it can still cause quite a bit of rain to hit St. Lucia.

Bottom line: The ideal time to visit St. Lucia is from December to May, which is NOT hurricane season.

Things to Do on Your St. Lucia Honeymoon

St. Lucia is one of the best honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean because it is filled with loads of romantic things for you and your newlywed partner to do together.

There are so many fun things to do on your St. Lucia honeymoon.

One option is to enjoy all the perks of your St. Lucia all-inclusive resort. You can sleep in as long as you like in your lovely room, enjoy a couple’s massage at the spa, and dine at one of the resort’s romantic restaurants.

Another option is to enjoy the best of what St. Lucia has to offer. You can go on a leisurely swim at one of the stunning beaches, feel rejuvenated at the Sulfur Springs mud baths, hike to the beautiful Toraille Waterfalls (preferably in the afternoon, so you’ll have the place all to yourself), and finish off your day with an amazing champagne sunset cruise.

Best Hotels for Your St. Lucia Honeymoon

St. Lucia is filled with all-inclusive resorts that’ll definitely enhance your honeymoon. While at these resorts, you can swim around in private infinity pools with breathtaking views, watch the marine life in their natural habitats through glass floors in over-the-water bungalows, or enjoy premier bottles of wine delivered to your private table by zipline.

1. Sandals Grande St. Lucian

The Sandals Resorts brand is known for having some of the best all-inclusive honeymoon resorts around the world. As a matter of fact, St. Lucia alone boasts three Sandals Resorts, including Sandals Grande St. Lucian.

With the bright turquoise waters and overwater bungalows, Sandals Grande St. Lucian is absolutely picture-perfect. There’s even a special over-the-water honeymoon butler bungalow, which includes 24-hour room service, a bubbling hot tub, and glass flooring to watch the fish swimming below.

And outside of your room, this adults-only resort is packed with perks and amenities. You can make use of the airport transfers, learn to scuba dive, try your hand at waterskiing, play a pick-up game of basketball, and so much more.

Then, there’s the important food scene. The Sandals Grande St. Lucian boasts a whopping 12 restaurants on the property. Whether you feel like having Caribbean, Italian, Indian, or Japanese food, you’ll be able to find it at this resort. There are also six bars on the property, including a few swim-up bars.

Plus, the location is nothing to balk at either. Sandals Grande St. Lucian is located on Rodney Bay, one of the calmest slices of paradise on the island. You’ll easily be able to dip your toes in the water from the balcony of your room or go for a calming swim in the postcard-worthy waters.

While staying at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian, you’ll also have access to the amenities of the other two St. Lucia Sandals resorts.

2. Jade Mountain Resort

Jade Mountain Resort is undoubtedly one of the best St. Lucia all-inclusive resorts. Each of the suites – or “sanctuaries,” as they’re referred to at the resort – includes a four-poster bed, breathtaking views of the Piti and Gros Pitons Mountains, and a private infinity pool just for you and your sweetheart.

Then, there are the many noteworthy amenities. You can arrive in a complimentary airport pick-up, dine at one of the four delicious restaurants, grab a drink at one of the three bars, or get a relaxing massage at the Kai en Ciel Spa.

3. Sandals Halcyon Beach

Sandals Halcyon Beach separates itself from the other two all-inclusive St. Lucia Sandals resorts through its size and intimacy. This particular Sandals resort is half of the size of the other two on the island. In other words, there are fewer people for you to run into and a higher chance of uninterrupted time with your significant other.

This adults-only St. Lucia resort has a wide variety of rooms to cater to any budget. But the most luxurious room, which is the beachfront honeymoon butler room, boasts a sparkling plunge pool, 24-hour room service, and awe-inspiring views of the ocean.

There are a few noteworthy perks to the Sandals Halcyon Beach. The relaxing lazy river, included scuba diving lessons, and prime location on Choc Beach are just the start.

And you should definitely make use of the included activities, like the Caribbean cooking class, the guided hike to the Pigeon Island National Landmark, and the tour to the mud baths of the Soufriere volcano.

Lastly, Sandals Halcyon Beach boasts six restaurants ranging from Italian cuisine to Japanese cuisine to everything in between.

While staying at the Sandals Halcyon Beach, you’ll also have access to the amenities of the other two St. Lucia Sandals resorts.

4. Ladera Resort

The Ladera Resort is undoubtedly one of the best St. Lucia honeymoon resorts for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, there’s the location. While many of the resorts on this list offer amazing views of the towering green mountains known as the Pitons, the Ladera Resort is actually on the property of this UNESCO World Heritage Site! You can’t get any closer than that!

Another major plus to the Ladera Resort is its size. With only 37 rooms, you know you’ll get the best service possible. Each of the rooms embraces the indoor-outdoor living vibe, as they only have three walls. The final side of the room opens to a private outdoor plunge pool with stunning views of the island. It’s a pretty spectacular set up, in my opinion.

Despite its small size, the Ladera Resort offers a wide array of amenities and perks. You can wake up with a sunrise meditation, take a fun bartending class, go horseback riding on the beach, or take part in the exciting street party known as Fish Fridays.

As for the food, The Dasheene Restaurant at Ladera Resort is known as one of the most romantic restaurants in St. Lucia. With breathtaking views of the Pitons and a flavorful menu, it’s simply magical. Try the Mahi-mahi tartare, the grilled striploin with red wine shallot jus, or the old-fashioned pepper pot with the fresh catch of the day.

Finally, there’s the romantic honeymoon package, which you should certainly splurge on. It comes with airport transfers, chocolate-covered fruits, sparkling wine, an hour-long couple’s massage, an experience tour of your choice, and a three-course dinner for two in the Wine Cellar.

5. Cap Maison Luxury Resort & Spa

If you and your partner are both foodies, Cap Maison Luxury Resort & Spa may be the best St. Lucia honeymoon resort for the two of you. There are two restaurants on the Cap Maison property: Cliff at Cap and Naked Fisherman. Cliff at Cap is run by Craig Jones, who was voted the Caribbean Chef of the year in 2016. While there, you can start with the ceviche of reef conch and ahi tuna, savor the kurobuta pork belly with wild garlic puree, or opt for the beef fillet with cinnamon pumpkin agnolotti.

The second restaurant, Naked Fisherman, is a lovely beachside bar that serves up more casual bites. You can try the caramelized Caribbean shrimp with wild honey and sriracha, the blackened dorado ciabatta sandwich, and the Creole fish stew.

Other amenities include the two delectable restaurants, one amazing bar, butler services, and even helicopter transfers from the International Airport at Hewanorra.

Once you’re all worn out from your long day of swimming, kayaking, ziplining, and eating, you can head back to your room. You can go to your balcony to take in the views of the marina, take a dip in the private plunge pool, or simply curl up and watch a movie together in the comfortable bed.

Packing List for Your St. Lucia Honeymoon

1. Passport

First and foremost, you’ll need a valid passport to visit St. Lucia. If you don’t have this important travel document, you won’t be able to go on your lovely honeymoon!

For more information regarding visas and passports, visit the U.S. Department of State’s website if you’re American or check with your local embassy if you’re not from the USA.

2. Light Casual Clothes for Warm Weather

Given the warm weather that blesses St. Lucia all year, you’ll want to pack lots of light, casual clothing. Shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, sundresses, and rompers are all great options.

3. Light, Rainproof Jacket

When it occasionally rains in St. Lucia, it pours. If you find yourself in this weather, you’ll definitely be grateful that you packed a light, rainproof jacket on your St. Lucia honeymoon.

4. More Formal Clothes for Fancy Dinners

Many resorts and restaurants enforce dress codes. After all, they don’t want people showing up to their five-star restaurants in beachwear!

How formal you have to be is dependent upon the resorts and restaurants you want to visit. The easiest way to determine what to bring is to find out if your resort enforces a dress code, and, if so, to follow those guidelines.

5. Swimwear

With infinity pools in your room and some of the world’s best beaches just a few steps away, you’ll definitely need to pack a few swimsuits for your St. Lucia honeymoon. And a cover-up is a good idea as well.

6. Reef-Safe Sunscreen

If you plan on getting in the ocean at all, you’ll definitely want to bring reef-safe sunscreen. The sun’s rays are quite strong on St. Lucia, and many unprepared visitors get burned. While you certainly can buy sunscreen while on the island, be prepared to pay quite a bit of money for it.

By packing reef-safe sunscreen in particular, you’ll help to keep the marine life in St. Lucia’s waters happy and healthy. While traditional sunscreen has many harmful chemicals, reef-safe sunscreen does not. It’s an easy switch that’s better for both you and the environment.
